Shepherd, MI — It was a great day of racing for the Vikings down in Shepherd, with strong performances across the board. The boys ran first, led by their top five scorers: Colton Mulder (17:18), Beckett Swanson (18:21), Brodie Haslett (18:26), Masyn Wing (18:49), and Travis Cornwell (19:15). The boys have been working hard, and their improvement is evident at every meet. Freshman Brodie Haslett continues to make huge progress from race to race; his impressive 18:26 today was a big boost for the team. The varsity girls ran next. Despite being down two of their top five runners, they performed admirably. Ella McInerney led the way, winning her first high school cross-country race 18:55. Behind her, Chloe Mazza finished fifth in 19:56, followed by Scotlyn Wistinghausen (22:56), Lily Sparks (23:11), and Alice Philburn (24:22). It was encouraging to see Ella earn her first win of the year and break under 19 minutes for the first time this season. Overall, the team continues to show steady improvement from meet to meet. We are excited to get in some hard workouts this week as we prepare for Ottawa Hills next week and look to continue this momentum
