Recap
Cadillac, MI — I was very happy with how hard all of our athletes competed on Saturday. There were many outstanding performances, including several lifetime bests. With VSV being our only home meet, it was great to see so many athletes earn personal records and season bests.
The boys varsity team started the day of racing on a high note, with six of our eight varsity runners setting personal records. Colton Mulder, Beckett Swanson, Travis Cornwell, Brydan Wing, and Logan Mahan all recorded new PRs. I believe it was a breakthrough race for many of them, and I am excited to see how much more they can improve over the remainder of the season.
I was also very pleased with the girls team’s performances. Ella McInerney won the race for the second victory of her high school cross-country career. She continues to improve with each meet and has been very consistent for us, running in the 19-minute range in each of her last three races.
Junior Chloe Mazza also surpassed a longtime personal record that she had been working hard to break since her freshman year. It was great to see her accomplish that goal.
I have liked the progress I have seen from the entire team over the past week. We are starting to get healthier as well, which makes me very excited to see how much improvement we can make moving forward.
