Portage, MI — It was a great day of racing for the Vikings down in Portage! I was really happy with how all our athletes competed in the challenging environment of the huge Portage Invitational. Both the boys and girls competed against 44 teams in their respective races, and we had many strong performances. The boys raced first, and I felt we had our most complete team performance of the season so far. Our top five scorers were: • Colton Mulder — 16:43 • Brodie Haslett — 17:47 • Masyn Wing — 17:58 • Beckett Swanson — 18:20 • Travis Cornwell — 18:58 It was especially exciting to see Colton earn a medal. This is a very difficult meet to medal at, and he is the first Viking boy to do so in four years! The girls followed with some great racing of their own and competed really hard. Our top five scorers were: • Ella McInerney — 18:30 • Chloe Mazza — 19:48 • Lily Sparks — 22:22 • Hailey Kuhn — 22:39 • Jean Holland — 23:00 The girls have been working extremely hard through a tough training block as we approach the end of the season, and I’m very proud of the toughness they showed on Saturday.
