Andover, KS — Goddard Lions Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 6-1 loss to Central on Thursday. Central scored on a single by Blackman in the first inning and a double by Tabor in the second inning. In the first inning, Central got their offense started. Central scored one run when Blackman singled. Central scored four runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Central came thanks to a single by Elliot, a fielder's choice by Tabor, and an error on a ball put in play by Wilson. Wilson earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Central. Wilson went five innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out six. Ronk threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Ronk recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Central. Coltin Watkins took the loss for Goddard Lions Varsity. The lefthander surrendered six runs on eight hits over six innings, striking out four and walking one. Mason Healy went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Goddard Lions Varsity in hits. Wilson led Central with two hits in three at bats. Central didn't commit a single error in the field. Buffington had the most chances in the field with eight.
