Torrance, CA — The Patriots had a couple of good learning experiences this week. Once again, we played a frosh-soph game this week, and the Patriots struggled in their first road game. Some early costly errors put the team in a hole, but they were eventually able to settle in and use the adversity to gain necessary experience against an excellent opponent. The varsity team lost a tough one as well, dropping to the Spartans 14-0. The defense was tremendous, racking up 5 QB sacks and 5 tackles for loss. Led by Alven Hsu, the defensive front pressured the South backfield all night. The secondary stepped up to contain a very good pass attack, with Aiden Fordyce totalling 7 lead tackles. Unfortunately, untimely errors by the special teams and the offense prevented the Patriots from cashing in on the defensive performance. Nevertheless, it was a valuable game played against a quality program and we look forward to implementing the lessons learned. Next week, the Patriots will take on the Valley Christian Defenders.
