Burnt Hills, NY — Burnt Hills knocked in seven runs in the fifth on its way to a 12-3 victory over Queensbury on Thursday in the Sectional Quarter Finals. Noah DiCaprio, John Wells, Kyle Kristel, and Vincent Vendetti each had RBIs in the big inning. Queensbury got things moving in the second inning, when an error scored two runs. After that, Burnt Hills responded with 11 unanswered runs. Queensbury scored again in the 6th when Ethan Starr singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. Burnt Hills then answered right back when DiCaprio singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. The Spartans pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning. Nate Deluke doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Kristel singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Burnt Hills put up seven runs in the fifth inning. The offensive onslaught came from triples by Wells and Vendetti, a walk by DiCaprio, and a single by Kristel. Kyle DeCresce got the win for the Spartans. The righthander surrendered three unearned runs on three hits over seven innings, striking out eight and walking zero. Matthew Conlon took the loss for Queensbury. The hurler allowed eight hits and ten runs over four and a third innings, striking out two. Burnt Hills totaled 12 hits. Kristel and Liam Blesi each managed three hits to lead the Spartans. Kolby Anderson went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Queensbury in hits. Queensbury didn't commit a single error in the field. Tyler Spaulding had the most chances in the field with four.
