Troy, NY — Burnt Hills defeated La Salle 15-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Vincent Venditti went 5 stellar innings with 6 strikeouts and Mason Veronezi struck out Ethan Grandjean to finish off the mercy rule shortened game. The Spartans got things started in the first inning when Nate Deluke singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Burnt Hills notched six more runs in the sixth inning. Justin Wright, Kyle DeCresce, Liam Blesi, and Matt Mitchell each had RBIs in the frame. Vendetti was credited with the victory for Burnt Hills. The righthander went five innings, allowing zero runs on three hits and striking out six. Veronezi threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen, striking out 2. Jeff Maddalone took the loss for La Salle. The righthander surrendered eight runs on five hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one. Burnt Hills racked up eight hits in the game. Deluke, Noah DiCaprio, and DeCresce each collected two hits to lead the Spartans.
