Tustin, CA — Great start for the Patriots this week! The frosh/soph team won their opening game versus Santa Ana Valley by the score of 40-0. It was a total team effort, with all phases generating big plays and every player getting an opportunity to contribute to the outcome. The varsity team won their opener over Bellflower High School, 34-14. After falling behind in the first quarter, 14-7, the Patriots were sparked by a 60 yard touchdown run by Justin Sevilla, and later an interception by Vincent Kim. The offense was powered by the running game with QB Aiden Fordyce (3 touchdowns) and Justin Sevilla (2 touchdowns) leading the way. After giving up some big plays in the first quarter, the defense settled in to hold the Buccaneers scoreless the rest of the way, with Alven Hsu recording 4 tackles for loss, and Justin Sevilla locking down their leading receiver. Next up are the South High Spartans from Torrance. Frosh / soph plays at SHS on Thursday 9/2 at 5:30, and the Varsity plays Saturday, 9/4 at home at 7:00.
