San Juan Capistrano, CA — JSerra hosted the Foothill Knights of Tustin today in and found out early that it was going to be a tough day. JSerra managed to win only 3 sets in both doubles and singles. KOach managed to rotate in 7subs, but the writing was on the wall. Junior, Anna Ciraci with freshman Aerin Fraize took 2 sets and narrowly missed beating the Knights line 1 duo, 4-6. This effort earned them the MVP awards for our opener. Gabbi, Elise and Sophia were all victorious vs line #3 singles, but, Foothill's 1 and 2 singles are legit. Victoria with Kylie crushed it vs.line 3 doubles, picking up our 3rd doubles set. The Lions are a very young team, with no starting seniors along with 2 SOP [sit out period] transfers who are not available until late September. Still waiting a CIF determination on a young player from Sweden, she would not be in the SOP category, either JV or varsity right away. The preseason is tough and the team needs to compete well in order to meet the CIF criteria of 500% record to be included in CIF team championships. Go Lions!
