Oceanside, CA — JV Game Recap 8/31 Our JV Pirates had an amazing game against the Fallbrook Warriors. Starting the game off, Pirates were able to take a quick lead over the Warriors with two goals in the first two minutes. Junior, Antonio Day, used his speed to break ahead of the Warriors for a goal at 4:15. In the Pirate's next offensive possession at 3:40, Evan Bennett scored a sweet goal to take the Pirates to a score of 0-2 over the Warriors. Pirates finished the quarter strong with another goal by freshman, Terrin Ing, bringing the Pirate to 0-3 lead. In the second quarter, Fallbrook scored three unanswered goals within the first two minutes, bringing the score to 3-3. Pirates kept the pressure on, worked hard, and were able to score two goals to end the quarter 4-5. These two goals were scored by Antonio Day, and freshman Brian Doherty. In the first half, Pirates had 5 man up opportunities, but were only able to covert one into a goal. Moving into the second half of the game, Evan Bennett and Felipe Ramos took exclusions for the Pirates, giving the Warriors an opening to tie it up 5-5 in the third. The final goal of the game was score by the Warriors, bringing them up 6-5 over the Pirates. While the Pirates ultimately lost, everyone was able to play, and lots of learning took place.I think there are some amazing accomplishments to be noted...Pirate Antonio Day (# 16) won 3 out of the 4 sprints and had 4 steals.Pirates only gave Fallbrook 2 advantage opportunities, but earned 5 man up opportunities due to great offensive positioning by #20 Coen, #12 Torrin, #11 Felipe, #8 Aiden. Goalie, Will Kreissig, had 6 saves and made several great passes throughout the game.
