Oceanside, CA — Junior Varsity Recap The JV game was unique as the Pirates are fortunate to have 31 boys in their entire program while RBV has a total of 14. These numbers allowed the Pirates to split their JV Roster and play against each other in a formal setting. While the Pirates do have many returners on JV, there are also 9 Pirates on the roster that are brand new to the sport. Coaches for both teams decided to mix Longhorns and Pirates together to play the JV game. All JV athletes played well and improved during this game. The biggest improvement that was seen defensively was Pirate’s body positioning. Pirates played a much better press defense with their hips to their goal, and a hand on their player. Offensively, Pirates started the game off crowding the center, which made each possession difficult to convert into a goal. By the second half, offense positioning looked much better, perimeter passing was taking place, and more goals were being scored. Here are top stats for both of our “white” and “dark” capped players: Goals: Terrin Ing 2, Evan Bennett 1, Nate Molenkamp 2, Felipe Ramos 1, Torin Noetzel 7, Ryan Risko 2 Assists: Ryan Risko 4, Torin Noetzel 1, Evan Bennet 2 Steals: Aiden 2, Nathan 1, Terrin 1, Evan 1, Felipe 1, Torin 1, Cyrus 2, Ryan 3 Blocks: Will Kreissig 6 Sprints won: Antionio Day (Q1,2,3,4)
