Cerritos, CA — This week the Patriots played against two solid teams from Valley Christian High School. The freshmen team found themselves with an early deficit and couldn’t cash in on red zone opportunities to cut into the lead in the first half. They continue to gain experience going into conference play this coming week. The varsity Patriots played a solid first half, ending two Defender drives with interceptions by Justin Sevilla and Aiden Fordyce, and went into the locker room trailing only 6-0. A couple of errors in the third quarter proved too much to overcome, despite a valiant effort by leading rusher and receiver, Justin Sevilla. The game ended with a 26-7 victory for the Defenders. Next week, the Patriots begin conference and city play against the Portola Bulldogs.
