San Juan Capistrano, CA — Whoever said Lightning doesn’t strike twice was wrong. Frosh Soph loses rematch 1-17 vs visiting Sage Hill this morning. Coach Wilson was missing some key team members due to MUN, but that’s ok. In this all doubles format, both schools had exactly 12 players each and everybody got to play 3 full sets of tennis today; that’s a win in my book. Today was the first ever official “televised”JSerra tennis match! (Yesterday’s rain out was a trial / test case.) Team member Viana Poggi was able to watch her teammates play, hopefully others did as well. MVP honors go out to Bryanna Noorian and Kaitlyn Donner who won a back and forth tie-breaker set on court 3 in the 2nd round. Too bad this is the one court that has pretty much zero camera coverage :( Elliana and Shuyang played their best in 2nd round action on court 2, getting 3 games off Lightning #2 team. Abby Godber and Chiara Manta, after a slow start, got 2 games on court 1 and then almost got our 2nd win vs line 3 in the 3rd round: 4-6. Mason and Melina had a good effort up on court 6 in the opening round, getting 3 games off their #3 doubles team, as did Gia and Aurora, and Natalie with Emily in the last round. All 3 doubles teams got 3 games on court 6 today. Well played! Next up: Mater Dei at Los Caballeros Sports Club on Friday, Oct. 1st - 2:30pm; A & C squads.
