Rancho Santa Margarita, CA — While there is no “Trinity League” for the Frosh Soph girls, it’s always a good benchmark to try and measure up to the FS teams from Mater Dei (they have a FS team more often than not) and Santa Margarita (this is only the 2nd time in 14 years they have participated). While the score appears lopsided, our top 3 players beat their top 6 players in 3 sets and we won 4 of the 9 sets played in the top half of the “draw”. Actually, it should have been 5 of 9, as we eventually lost a tight tie-breaker due to a late, reversed “non-call” line call. Additionally, we give up depth or strength of lineup by assigning 3 persons to a court, but do so in an effort to allow more playing time for ALL the players who show up to play. MVP honors go out to the 3 girls playing line #1 doubles, who did not lose a set: Neeka Barkhordar, Kaitlyn Donner, and Faith Blower. Kudos for picking up additional set wins: Kendall Beuerlein with Jordan Gross at Line #4; Bryanna Noorian with Siena Livak at Line #2 doubles. Honorable mention “shout out” goes to Maya Stroupe who was the only JSerra player who was asked, needed and stepped up to play 3 sets in today’s heat. Thank you and we’ll done! Next match: Friday Oct. 8th at Edison, 2:30pm.
