The Royals had four players score in double digits, led by Jeanette Fine (FR/Las Vegas, NV) and Ana Resendiz (JR/Ontario, CA) who each had 14 points. Shiane Talley (SO/Rialto, CA) posted her first double-double of the season with 11 rebounds and 10 points on the night, while Shailissa Jarrett (FR/Whittier, CA) added 10 points in her first game of the season and Keira McNamee (FR/Wilsonville, OR) posted a career-high 10 points. The Royals opened up the game with a 9-0 scoring run to jump out to a lead over the Tigers that they would hold the entirety of the game. Rhianne Omori (JR/Honolulu, HI) opened the game with a three-pointer, followed by an old-fashion three-point play from Jeanette Fine with a layup and a free throw. The 9-0 run was capped off by a three-pointer from Shailissa Jarrett. The Royals continued to stop the Tigers on offense and after the first quarter had an 11 point lead over Occidental. HIU showed their best offense in the second quarter scoring 26 points. Freshman, Keira McNamee, and KeKe Grayson (FR) hit back-to-back jump shots to start the second quarter. Jarrett then grew the Royals led to fifteen on a deep three-pointer. At the half, the Royals led 47-28 after Ana Resendiz sunk a three-pointer before heading to the locker room. The Royals grew their lead to as much as 24 in the third quarter and held the Tigers to their lowest scoring quarter of the night, allowing just nine points. The Royals scored 22 points in the fourth quarter and took the game 83-52 for their first road win of the season.
