Santa Ana, CA — SANTA ANA, CA — GREAT Morning MD Girls Soccer, We opened the season in an un-traditional way. We played JSerra, our Trinity League Rival, in our first match in the OC Winter Showcase Tournament. The girls were excited to start the season at Mater Dei on our home field. There are a lot of positives to take from the match and we have a lot of room for improvement. Lily Biddolph scored the first goal of the season off of an impressive volley off of a rebound from a shot by Lina Rivas. The girls created a lot of opportunities throughout the game. The best one might have been by Jenna Rivera. Jenna made a tight turn and hit an electric left-footed shot from about 25 yards out. The JSerra goalkeeper made an amazing diving save pushing the ball just over the crossbar. Big Props to Jenna on the shot, Bigger Props to the keeper on the save. Defensively, the girls competed and challenged everything. With that being said, JSerra created a couple of dangerous opportunities. Alyssa Esparza came up with 2 magnificent saves to help preserve the shutout. The first was denying a 1v1 and the second was a reaction save that with the help of the post kept the ball out of the net. Overall, we have a lot of things to be optimistic about and we are looking forward to our next game at San Juan Hills. https://app.veo.co/matches/20211130-2021-11-30-225202/#t=76:02 #It'sOurTime.
