Lake Forest, CA — Great way to start the season with a solid win at El Toro High School. Despite the lopsided score, there was some really good tennis being played by boys from both squads with more than a handful of long singles points, resulting in unsolicited applause from all the spectators. JSerra singles players swept all 9 sets. MVP honors to each for winning 3 for 3 sets played: Marco Belciano, Mikey Junge and Lucas Johnson. Both Mikey and Lucas had come-from-behind victories - thanks for fighting back! While Marco, playing on court #1, grabbed the lead in all 3 sets. Well done gentlemen! Joining the “100% club” playing doubles and winning all 3 sets, congrats and MVP honors to Max Chiotis and Sam Gou who won a very long 7-5 first round match, and then went on to win easily in rounds 2 & 3. Playing well in the number 2 spot, kudos to Nicholas Barrios and Cash Belciano winning 2 of 3 sets played. Sharing the number 3 spot and playing 2 sets , 1 each with the other 2, very good opening day efforts by Ashton Peasley, Jordan Gessin and newcomer, multi-sport junior J.T. Lentz. Jordan and Ashton actually defeated the top ET doubles team in the 2nd round. Great effort today. Thank you parents and siblings for a great turnout (and stepping up to drive.) We way outnumbered the host team on their home courts. Love our Lion Nation! Next up: Tuesday, Feb. 22: at Aliso Niguel, 3pm.
