Fullerton, CA — JSerra finishes official league play undefeated with today’s 11-7 victory vs Servite at the Fullerton Tennis Centre. Losing 3 - 0 before it started due to forfeits by JSerra individuals not showing up, the boys had a lot of ground to catch up on; 3 sets down is bad, but the game count differential of 0-18 is a deal killer if the match gets tied 9/9. It was slow going at first, but kudos to MVP Nicholas Barrios who fought back to win 2 sets after dropping an hour and 20 minute long first set tie-breaker. Nicholas’ 2 wins gave us the safety margin of victory today - well done. MVP honors to Captain Sam Gou and Mikey Junge (battling a sprained ankle) who both won all 3 sets played, completing league singles play with zero losses. MVP honors to Max Chiotis and Lucas Johnson who swept their 3 doubles matches, coming from behind 1-3 in the opening set to win 6-4. Well done guys. A shout out to Ashton Peasley and Jordan Gessin who got behind in all 3 sets, but fought back to get 4-6 scores in each. This kind of effort, not giving up, wins matches when set scores are tied 9-9. Next up: Wednesday, April 13th at SMCHS for a “friendly” non-league match FS, 3pm.
