Burnt Hills, NY — Burnt Hills ran off with the lead late in the game in an 8-5 victory over Cohoes on Tuesday. The game was tied at five with the Spartans batting in the bottom of the fifth when Kyle DeCresce blasted a triple to center field, scoring two runs and taking the lead for good. Cohoes scored three runs in the second inning, but Burnt Hills still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Cohoes came thanks to a single by Jedadiah Trudeau and an error on a ball put in play by Jordin Collins-Sheldon. Logan McNeal was credited with the victory for Burnt Hills. McNeal lasted three innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out six. Shane Bonney and Matt Martin entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Bonney recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Spartans. Charlie Geudron took the loss for Cohoes. Geudron went two and a third innings, allowing five runs on three hits, striking out two and walking one. Yerina started the game for Burnt Hills. The righthander surrendered three runs on one hit over two innings, striking out three before leaving with a leg injury. Zack Garmley started the game for Cohoes. The hurler went two and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out three DeCresce, Martin, Daniel Woloszyn, Noah DiCaprio, Timothy Venditti, and Matt Lepel each managed one hit to lead the Spartans. Nick Chicaway went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Cohoes in hits.
