South Pasadena, CA — The South Pasadena Freshman Tigers improved to 2-1 in league play with an 8-5 victory over the La Canada Spartans at home on Wednesday. In an exciting contest, South Pasadena had to surmount a four-run deficit with timely hitting and smart baserunning. The Tigers brought the game to within one run in the fourth inning, and then exploded for four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Key hits that inning came from Charles Esnault, Eli Hall, Bob Rosenberg, and Beck Brenek. Benjamin Regan started the game on the mound and went five innings, striking out four and giving up four runs. Brenek closed out the game with two scoreless frames, striking out three. The game ended dramatically with catcher AJ Arreola throwing out a Spartan runner trying to steal third base. The Tigers will look to continue their Rio Hondo League victories this Saturday at home against the Temple City Rams.
