Stratford, CT — Stratford High took on Brookfield in Tuesday’s home opener at Penders Field losing 6-1. The game was moved up a day due to inclement weather concerns. Senior Josh McDowell got the start going 4 2/3 innings and giving up 5 runs, 4 earned, with 1 strikeout and 4 walks. Junior Joe Booska came in for the final 2 1/3s only yielding only 1 run. Brookfield finished the game with 9 hits scoring 6 runs. Stratford led by senior Brady Knorr’s hard single & double to the left-center gap scoring Ron Kerkes for its lone run ended the game with 3 hits. Stratford’s other hit was a double laced into the gap by Junior Jake Kszywanos. Tuesday’s contest was the first league game of the season in the SWC. Stratford returns to action at Penders Friday at 4:15 versus Bridgeport Central and Saturday morning at 11:00 versus East Catholic in the Penders Memorial Scholarship Game.
