Bethel, CT — Stratford returned to action on Monday with a SWC league contest up at Bethel. Senior Aidan Ormsbee, Stratford’s starter on the mound, began the game with some command issues resulting in the first two Bethel batters to draw walks, then to advance by way of a double steal, and finally score via an infield ground out and a sac fly to centerfield. That was all Bethel needed as things turned out. Ormsbee somehow got away with early problems with yielding 4 walks & 2 hit by pitches in the first 4 innings, gave up no further runs afterwards, and actually finished the 6 home frames by throwing a no-hitter. Once he settled in, he retired with ease the last 11 Bethel hitters in a row. Stratford only managed 4 hits. Senior J.J. Romatzick laced a single to left in the first inning. In the 3rd, Junior Joe Booska went up the middle for a single and then went to 3rd on a double to left by Soph Zach Rider. Senior Ron Kerkes also chipped in with a chopper infield single to the left side in the 6th. Otherwise, Bethel’s starter Max Foster held Stratford in check with a good fastball and a biting curveball. He ended up striking out 11 Stratford batters. Stratford’s record drops to 2-3 Overall, 0-2 SWC. Stratford will be at Notre Dame-Fairfield on Wednesday at 4:15. Stratford 000 000 0 0-4-0 Bethel 200 000 0 2-0-0
