Fairfield, CT — Stratford High Baseball bounced back with big win on Wednesday registering its first league W as the team prevailed over Notre Dame of Fairfield at Fabbri Field 10-2. Junior Ben Petrie started the game & went the first 3 innings on the mound giving up just 1 run. Junior Josh McDowell relieved Petrie in the 4th and went the rest of the way also giving up just one run. Stratford being down 1-0 early responded with a flurry in the top of the 3rd. Senior Brady Knorr and Junior Ben Petrie got things going with their bats, both driving in big runs during the process. Then after the bases loaded up, Senior Aidan Ormsbee broke the game open by hitting a no doubt grand slam over left field fence. Senior J.J. Romatzick finished the game going 3-3 with also 2 walks and 2 runs scored. Senior Brady Knorr also accumulated 3 hard hits, scoring a run & driving in another run. Junior Ben Petrie went even better with 3-5 performance chiming in with 2 big doubles resulting in 3 RBI. And again Aidan Ormsbeeā€™s long shot proved to be the decisive blow and confidence builder as Stratford ended up winning its first league contest. Stratford upped its record in the process to 3-3 Overall, 1-2 SWC league play. Next up for Stratford is the back end of the home-&-home with Darien this Saturday April 16th at 11:00 at Penders Field.
