Monroe, CT — Stratford returned to action on Wednesday with a mid-week SWC league game versus Masuk up at Giampolo Field. Stratford quickly loaded the bases in the top of the 1st as Senior J.J. Romatzick singled, stole second, then advanced to third on Senior Ron Kerkes’ follow-up single. Senior Brady Knorr then walked setting up the big threat and chance to break the game wide open early. However, after a strikeout, then a fielder’s choice, and a groundout, Stratford only put one run on the board. Junior Ben Petrie started the bottom frame getting two quick outs. With it looking like it would be three up and three down, Stratford couldn’t complete a throw resulting in Masuk taking advantage with a couple of 2 out hits scoring 2 big runs to overtake the early lead. Masuk never looked back. Masuk scored 3 in the 3rd, 3 more in the 5th and ultimately won the game by the score of 8-2. Five of those 8 runs were unearned for tough-luck starter Ben Petrie. Junior Joe Booska threw a scoreless 6th frame for Stratford. J.J. Romatzick finished the game going 2 for 4 with one scored run. Joe Booska also singled, doubled and had 1 RBI. Stratford, off on Thursday and Friday, travels up to Pomperaug on Saturday for a 10:30 game.
