Stratford, CT — Stratford High returned to action on Monday losing a SWC league contest at Penders Field against Joel Barlow 3-2. Junior Joe Booska got the start for Stratford and turned in a solid performance throwing all 7 innings. He escaped a big jam in the 1st inning only yielding one run and Barlow only scored 2 more later in the game when an infield error was followed by a long home run. Stratford’s offense came up short in support of Booska only mustering two runs late as Senior Ron Kerkes came around and scored following a hit by Senior J.J. Romatzick and then an outfield overrun error. Next up, Junior Ben Petrie with a two-strike count stroked a line drive opposite field double that plated Romatzick. Stratford experienced difficulties all afternoon hitting with runners in scoring position. As result too many men were left on base in big spots. Both Kerkes and Romatzick finished the game with two hits a piece. Stratford heads up to crosstown rival Bunnell on Wednesday afternoon. The league game is slated to start at 4:15 PM.
