Stratford, CT — Stratford finally broke its four game losing streak on Wednesday afternoon by beating crosstown rival Bunnell 1-0 in a SWC league contest played at Bunnell High School. Cold and blustery conditions prevailed throughout the game and Stratford’s starting pitcher Senior Brady Knorr proved to be dominant. Knorr threw a complete game shutout yielding just 2 hits, striking out 9, and only walking 1. He even chipped in with two hits of his own to help his cause and scored Stratford’s lone run on Junior Jake Kszywanos’ RBI groundout in the 2nd. Senior J.J. Romatzick mixed in a hit, a hit by pitch, and played his typical solid defense saving a run too on a big head-ups backup of 3rd base on an errant throw. Senior Aidan Ormsbee beat out a bunt to add to Stratford’s limited hit total of 4. Bunnell’s starting RHP pitcher Terrell also was dominant in his own right throwing 7 innings while yielding only 1 run and 4 hits. Bunnell’s catcher Dawson tripled in the 4th and pitcher in the 3 hole Terrell singled in the 6th for Bunnell’s 2 hits. Stratford returns to action and league play on Friday versus Weston at Penders Field at 4:15.
