Stratford, CT — Stratford returned to SWC league play action on Monday beating Pomperaug 9-1 on a rainy, dreary afternoon. Junior Joe Booska didn’t let the elements affect his pitching effort as he went the full route throwing a four hitter & only surrendering on one run. The wet field and falling rain also proved not to be a distraction for Stratford’s defense as they played errorless ball with the infield trio of Junior 3B Ben Petrie, Senior SS J.J. Romatzick & Senior 2B Josh McDowell turning in a number of very good plays. Not to be outdone, Sophomore LF Zach Rider and Junior Catcher Jake Kszywanos also played their positions with flair and skill. Stratford was led at the plate by Senior Aidan Ormsbee who boomed a long triple and scored a big run and Senior Josh McDowell who went 2-2 with two runs scored and one RBI. Stratford’s other runs were the result of good baserunning and the team taking advantage of Pomperaug’s four errors & several wild pitches. Stratford’s record now stands at 7-7 overall, 4-5 SWC. Stratford returns to action with a big league game on Thursday up at rival Newtown at 3:30.
