San Juan Capistrano, CA — With several players out sick or at Jazz practice, and a few more starters at the Beckman Showcase Tourney in Irvine, the remaining crew bolstered by 5 Frosh / Soph players gave a solid effort but were outmatched. F/S squad players: Sean Do, Isaac Nguyen both in singles; along with Andrew Whitehead, Sam Asadi and Logan Lebsack in doubles - thank you for stepping up today and filling in. While we won zero sets in singles, Isaac Nguyen came closest losing a tie-breaker in the 3rd round. Playing 3 full rounds of singles with no subs going in is tough early in season, so kudos to Isaac, Sean and Nick Barrios for going the distance. Speaking of Frosh / Soph players stepping up, MVP honors for today’s match go to our #3 line doubles team: Sam Asadi and Logan Lebsack - the only team members to win 2 of 3 sets: 7-5 and 6-2. Great job guys. Honorable mention to Max Chiotis playing along side Andrew to pick up a well-earned 6-4 doubles set, and barely lost another in a tie-breaker. Next up: Fri. Feb. 25th - both JV and Frosh / Soph travel to Fountain Valley for 2:30 matches.
