DeLuca's Dive Saves Bobin's Battle & Secures Split Against The Iron Bucks in 9
Butler, PA — The Battling Barons come back and do it again in a crazy, late night finish at Butler's Historical Pullman Park against the Top-Ranked Butler Iron Bucks. Brett Bobin, worked an 8 inning master piece on the mound for The Barons, dicing up and sitting down 7 Iron Bucks with 7 consecutive scoreless innings. Shane Cato calmly came in and did what he does best to get the save and close the door on the win and split of the Iron Bucks. During the hard fought battle against the Iron Bucks a player and head coach from The Barons were ejected from the game in the top of the 6th inning over a controversial "out" call at the plate. Following the ejections the battling spirit of The Barons was awoke and the Top of the 7th is where the show began. Gabe Yanssens started if off with a single to right field, followed by another single from Anthony Ryan that moved Yanssens to 3rd. Caelen Bender hit a ground ball that scored Yanssens and moved Ryan to 3rd after the Iron Bucks fumbled the ball. Then Frank "Bigtime" DeLuca came up with one of the most selfless, intensified baserunning efforts seen on a baseball field by running and diving to beat out an infield groundball with two outs, scoring Ryan and tying the game for The Barons. Then, in the Top of the 9th Caelen Bender and Frank DeLuca hit singles that lead to a go ahead score from a Caleb Lehman single to left. DeLuca showing that battling spirit adding one more to help The Barons by scoring on a pass ball. The two runs were enough to keep The Barons on top while Shane Cato closed it out in the Bottom of the 9th. Next game for The Barons is at Westminster College, v. The Youngstown Creekside Crocs at 6pm July 13th.
