Wichita, KS — It came down to the last play, but Goddard Lions JV was on the wrong end of a 12-11 defeat to Maize South on Tuesday. Maize South trailed 11-10 in the bottom of the sixth inning when K Stuckey tripled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. Despite the loss, Goddard Lions JV did collect 13 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Maize South had nine hits on the way to victory. Goddard Lions JV got things moving in the first inning, when Stuckey's wild pitch allowed one run to score for Goddard Lions JV. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Maize South tied things up at ten. An error scored one run for Maize South. Maize South scored five runs in the second inning. K Scott, P Smith, I Heeb, and J Sullivan each drove in runs during the inning. Stuckey led things off on the hill for Maize South. The righty surrendered ten runs on ten hits over two innings, striking out two. Isaac Tatro toed the rubber for Goddard Lions JV. The pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on five hits and striking out one. Easton Vierya and Boston Arnold entered the game as relief, throwing two and a third innings and one and one-third innings respectively. Goddard Lions JV saw the ball well today, racking up 13 hits in the game. Maddox Stevens, Landon Kohlhorst, Gage Bowker, and Cooper Zimmer all managed multiple hits for Goddard Lions JV. Zimmer, Bowker, Kohlhorst, and Stevens all had two hits to lead Goddard Lions JV. B Ellis went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Maize South in hits. Maize South didn't commit a single error in the field. K Paredes had nine chances in the field, the most on the team.
