Placentia, CA — The Hawks got an early touchdown after a Valencia turnover. Jack Strouse found running back Chris Hurtl for a 10 yard score. El Dorado's defense got a big stop on the next possession when Camaren Sweet sacked Valencia quarterback Zackary Charles on fourth down deep in Hawks territory. The Tigers defense held the Hawks in check the rest of the half. Valencia's offense got a boost from running back Nathan Perez as he had several big runs. With under 2 minutes left to go in the half Perez rumbled into the end zone from two yards out to tie up the game at 7-7. Valencia got the ball to start the second half. Zack Ruiz made a big defensive stop on third down to force a three and out. El Dorado got key offensive plays from James Crupi and Dillon Bass to set up an unsuccessful 45 yard field goal attempt. Early in the fourth quarter the Hawks got deep into the red zone but Valencia blocked a 27 yard field goal attempt keeping the game tied. With under three minutes to go the Hawks took a 14-7 lead when Chris Hurtl scampered for a 28 yard touchdown on 3rd and 8. The Tigers came right back with a touchdown of their own with Zackary Charles tossing a 70 yard strike to Josh Carrera. On the extra point attempt El Dorado's James Crupi broke through the line and blocked the attempt sealing the victory for the Hawks.
