Nazareth, PA — Easton watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 8-1 loss to Nazareth Area on Friday. Nazareth Area scored on a single by Dibilio in the first inning, a single by Bertz in the first inning, an error in the first inning, and a double by Smethers in the second inning. The Rovers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Nazareth Area, giving up eight runs. Nazareth Area got things started in the first inning when Dibilio singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. Nazareth Area scored three runs in the fourth inning. Nazareth Area's big inning was driven by a triple by Smethers and an error on a ball put in play by Bertz. Jake Dally pitched Nazareth Area to victory. The hurler surrendered one run on two hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out eight. Sauer threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen. AJ Thomas took the loss for Easton. The pitcher allowed nine hits and eight runs over three and a third innings, striking out seven and walking one. Blake Heitzman and Simeon Reed each had a hit for the Rovers. Easton travels to Cooperstown, NY to play Voorhees HS NJ Sunday night at 5pm on Doubleday Field.
