San Diego, CA — The Centurions began “Season 2” on a high note, going 1-0 in league play with a dominating, 20-4 win at Canyon Hills. Behind a balanced attack on offense, led by dominating performances from Sophomore Sensations Grace Doolittle (six goals and two assists) and Addi Stoppenhagen (six goals and one assist), the Cents got ahead early and never looked back. Team Captains Joelle Fineman (one goal and two assists) and Mei Hanaki (three goals), kept the synergy going all night for the team. Seniors Cissy Letter and Mei Hanaki teamed up with Grace Doolittle for an impressive 15 draw controls. Talented Super Soph Brooke Hudson added two goals, with the remaining scoring coming from Freshman Robin Bernd and, in her first goal as a Centurion, Junior Quinn Seminoff. Juniors Keiko Yamamuro and Mimi Ghandour had strong games at attack with two and one shots on goal, respectively. The strong Centurion defense played their hearts out once again, led by Captains “AP,” Alyssa Parinas and Bri Gonzalez, and amazing efforts put forth by Kiera Roberts and Julissa Vielma. Junior goalie Lily Haley put on another highlight show with 10 saves, turning away shot after shot from a talented Lady Rattler attack. All in all, this was a statement TEAM win to start league play. League play continues this Thursday for a 6:30 p.m. first draw against league foe Academy of Our Lady of Peace. This is a reschedued game from Wednesday. Note: this will officially be a home game for the Lady Pilots, but the game will be played at Centurion Stadium. Come out and support this talented group of student athletes. Go UC LAX!!!
