Sacramento, CA — Vanden Vikings Varsity Grabs Lead In Fourth Inning To Defeat Kennedy Vanden snagged a late lead and defeated Kennedy 15-6 on Saturday. The game was tied at five with Vanden Vikings Varsity batting in the top of the fourth when Jake Tranchina homered on a 2-1 count, scoring three runs. Jack Brooks led Vanden to victory by driving in four runs. Brooks went 2-for-4 at the plate. Brooks drove in runs on a home run in the second and a home run in the fourth. Kennedy knotted the game up at five in the bottom of the third inning, when Julian Vazquez singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. Trevor Morse led the Vanden Vikings Varsity to victory on the pitcher's mound. The righthander surrendered five runs on five hits over three innings, striking out six. Jovan Ochoa threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Vanden Vikings Varsity launched four home runs on the day. Brooks went deep in the second and fourth innings. Jason Olsen put one out in the fourth inning. Tranchina had a long ball in the fourth inning. Vanden Vikings Varsity collected 15 hits on the day. Cody Buckley, Brooks, Kayden Omoso, Olsen, and Tranchina each racked up multiple hits for Vanden. Buckley went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Vanden Vikings Varsity in hits.
