Santa Ana, CA — Frosh Soph boys notched their 4th win of the season 😃 in an exciting match vs the Foothill Knights yesterday afternoon, in an “all doubles” format. MVP’s Sean Do and Andrew Whitehead, won an opening round tie-breaker set, which evened the match up at 3 sets each. This early win was a critical component of our team win. After the 2nd round, the score was 6-6 and JSerra was behind on game count 48-49😱….exactly the situation JV was in vs Servite on Monday. Can’t get much closer than that. In the final round, “birthday boy” Wesley Ulz along with Cruz Wilkinson won an exciting set 6-2, which gave us the extra point we needed to win 10-8. That was a huge win for the team! Foothill put their #3 team from previous match down to #4, making the 4, 5 & 6 spots a lot harder for us. Kudos to David Manning whose serve started clicking in, along with Shaunt Karageozian, who won 6-1 in the middle round, off-setting a loss in the top half of the draw and keeping the score tied 6-6 at the end of round 2. Our other set of MVP’s: Sam Asadi and Logan Lebsack cruised to a perfect 3 set win afternoon at line 1 doubles; while Christopher Kempf and Isaac Nguyen picked up 2 of 3 sets played. We challenged Chris, because he moved up in the line-up to compete in the top half of the draw, and gave us 2 set wins that were asked of him. Well done. Next up: Friday, April 29th - home vs Santa Margarita, 3 pm.
