Apple Valley, MN — Burnsville Varsity Blaze snatched the lead late in the game in an 8-3 victory over Eastview Lightning Varsity on Monday. Eastview jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Blaze started their comeback in the third inning. Connor Quimby singled to lead off the inning and scored on a base hit to right field by Jonah Dawson to close the gap to 2-1. In the fifth inning, the Blaze added 3 more runs on a single by Cole Sieben, a walk by Dawson, a couple of errors by the Lightning on a sacrifice bunt by Baylor Limberg and a pop fly by Jacob Neutz, and a single by Nick Meuser. The Blaze added 2 more runs in the sixth inning. After a walk by Eli Kierstad, he moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Quimby and a stolen base and then scored on a single by Sieben. Three more walks loaded the bases and gave the Blaze another run to push the lead to 6-2. Eastview got a run back in the bottom of the sixth to close the lead to 6-3. With 2 outs in the top of the seventh, Quimby and Seiben walked and then scored on Dawson’s double to the left center gap. Neutz earned the win for the Blaze. The righthander allowed six hits and three runs over five and a third innings, striking out seven and walking one. Meuser threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Meuser recorded the last five outs to earn the save for the Blaze, helped by a game ending double play turned by second basemen Seiben and shortstop John Santelman. The Blaze tallied eight hits. Dawson and Sieben lead each had two hits to lead Burnsville Varsity Blaze. Quimby, Neutz, Meuser and Drake Sloan each had one hit.
