Seattle, WA — Saturday's game against Merchants Purple 14U was a heartbreaker for Baden Black Sox 14U, as they lost the lead late in a 15-5 defeat. The game was tied at five with Merchants Purple batting in the top of the sixth when Meyer singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. The Baden Black Sox struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Merchants Purple, giving up 15 runs. Baden Black Sox fired up the offense in the second inning, when Kelly singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. Merchants Purple evened things up at five in the top of the fifth inning when an error scored one run for them. Merchant Purple scored nine runs in the seventh and final inning. The big inning for Merchants came thanks to singles by Carlson, Muchinsky, Boyce and Viers, a groundout by McCormick, and a double by Toungate. Meyer was credited with the victory for Merchants.
