Wichita, KS — Despite a 4-run deficit in the fourth inning, Goddard Lions Varsity almost came all the way back, eventually falling 7-6 to Bishop Carroll on Wednesday. Goddard Lions Varsity managed three runs in the failed comeback. Tanner Peoples, Cooper Zimmer, and Peoples fueled the rally with RBIs. Goddard Lions Varsity couldn't keep up with Bishop Carroll early in the game. Bishop Carroll scored on a stolen base and a single by Blasi in the second inning. Bishop Carroll pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Bishop Carroll scored one run on a stolen base and Blasi singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. Brennen earned the win for Bishop Carroll. The fireballer surrendered five runs on five hits over five innings, striking out two. V Haneberg threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Josh Winkle took the loss for Goddard Lions Varsity. The pitcher lasted one and one-third innings, allowing two hits and three runs. Goddard Lions Varsity tallied one home run on the day. Peoples went for the long ball in the seventh inning. Peoples went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Goddard Lions Varsity in hits. Bishop Carroll saw the ball well today, racking up five hits in the game.
