San Marcos, CA — What a game! The mounting anxiety all week was palpable in the stands as Escondido gold took the field to start this game. Esco has a good record of beating San Marcos. But NUH-uh! Not today!!! In innings 1 & 2, the Cruzers showed Esco that we came to WIN, scoring 7! It was 7-0, with #8 Arce pitching. Then, Esco realized their girls weren't hitting bombs, and began bunting instead. The Cruzers battled, but Esco was able to tie the game, 7-7. And then, THEN! The bats woke up with a vengeance! Cruzers weren't hitting bombs, but base hit after base hit! And remember, base hits score runs too! Our girls shut it down with a score of 12. Final inning, and Esco's home, and up to bat. Bases were loaded, with 2 outs. Again, the anxiety was high! #13 Arce pitched an amazing pitch, and Esco crushed the ball, fly ball to center field. It was going to go over the fence, which would tie the game. But, #1 Amaya had a different goal, and snatched that pop fly in the air, crashing into the fence, getting the 3rd out and ending the game. It was BEAUTIFUL! That's game! These girls play their hearts out every game, and it shows. Awesome job, Cruzers! Let's keep it going all the way to Lancaster!
