Oxnard, CA — Senior quarterback Zane Carter threw TD passes of 39 and 35 yards to senior Colin Guenther and ran for a 35-yard TD run as the visiting Bulldogs improved to 2-0 in Channel League play. “We’re happy to be improving and 2-0 in league,” Buena coach Ryan Bolland said. “We know our league is going to be very competitive.” Camden Walker had a 7-yard TD run, Ty Morris had a 5-yard TD run and Stevie Plahn had a 13-yard run for Buena (2-2), which led 35-7 at the half. Channel Islands (0-3, 0-1) scored its lone TD on a 4-yard pass from quarterback Dashaye Williams to receiver Jose Felix late in the second quarter. “For a guy who’s been playing football for two months, he’s been doing a great job,” Channel Islands High coach Gary Porter said of his quarterback. Walker and Caleb Jones blocked punts for Buena. Jones also had a sack. Both teams are on the road next week. Buena visits San Marcos while the Raiders visit Rio Mesa. “We drove the ball several times,” Porter said. “These guys are giving everything they got.”
