Fort Walton Beach, FL — No one needed a win more than Choctaw. Against a rival is just icing on the cake. Following two heartbreaking losses by a combined 5 points, the Big Green (1-2) got a monster performance from quarterback Jesse Winslette (four TDs passing, one rushing) and delivered a pivotal stop on Crestview's two-point conversion with 2:08 left to play to seal the win. Jayce Brown hauled in three of the touchdowns from Winslette, who sat out last week's loss at second-ranked Fairhope with an upper body injury. Cole Tabb had the other receiving score for Choctaw, which got a 5-for-5 effort from Bo Kuhn on extra points. Fun fact: The interception on the two-point conversion came from It was Brooks Padgett, who has three over the last two years against Crestview (1-2), which lost 16-13 at home to the Big Green last year. Choctaw will celebrate the win for now, but the schedule only gets tougher from here on out. Choctaw next travels to district foe and top-ranked Pine Forest (3-0) next week, followed by welcoming fifth-ranked Niceville (3-0) to Joe Etheredge Stadium. Crestview hosts Pace next.
