San Juan Capistrano, CA — Kirk's Korner: The Grizzlies came from far away to play the Lady Lions today..sporting a 2021 record of 23-1, Los Osos is a very formidable foe. Their only loss was in the 2nd round of D1 CIF, a 6-12 loss to Huntington Beach. KOach notes, " I was really proud of the way our girls fought back after getting punched in the mouth in round 1, 2-4. The girls picked up an extra set in round 2, 3-3, and finished strong with a 4-2 win tally in round 3. But, the Grizz eeked out a win by one measly game. Based on an unofficial scouting report, we picked up 2 more points in singles than I imagined, but, we really needed more support from our senior doubles teams, usually our strength." Anna Ciraci with Aerin Fraize picked up right where they left off with 2 sets... carrying over from a strong CIF campaign last year. Scarlett Vukich, Halle Parker and Jazmine Aftabi all picked up 2 singles sets apiece with excellent tennis... I was impressed with all of their play. "This loss will not hurt us much, maybe at seeding time, because we won't have any like opponents, but that's pretty far away. Where it's going to hurt is us being careful that we have a 50% record in order to be eligible for the playoffs... we have a tough preseason schedule. This makes my job tougher in the area of substitutions, just have to be careful. Go Lions!
