Lake Forest, CA — JV upped their record to 3 wins v 1 loss this afternoon, defeating the El Toro Chargers 14-4 on El Toro’s courts. Saving energy for tomorrow’s match at Aliso Niguel, we put our top 9 players all in singles, each playing only once, allowing our bench players to shoulder the load and get more playing time in before Trinity League begins later this month. “S” squad swept all 9 sets of singles: Sophia Staff, Captain Ava Hetland, and Sophia Stewart at line #1; Neeka Barkhordar, Olivia Nowlan, and Caitlyn Davidson at line #2; Alma Bayat, Cecilia Nama, and Natalia Gitibin at line # 3. Great job ladies, thanks for stepping aside and letting others fill in today. Colette Chang and Jacqueline Poli won 3 straight sets of doubles at line #1 for MVP honors. Kendall Beuerlein and Sydney Wood came oh-so-close to winning all 3 sets played at line #2 doubles, winning sets 2 & 3 after an opening round tie-breaker loss which took over an hour to play….earning MVP honors for fighting back after that tough loss :) Sharing the load at line #3: Jordan Gross, Emsley Mitchell and Siena Livak played hard and had fun. Kudos to Emsley and Jordan who fought back from a 0-4 deficit in the opening round to force a tie-breaker. They fell a bit short, but played some good tennis in this hour+ set. Thank you! Next up: at Aliso Niguel tomorrow, 9/13.
