Aliso Viejo, CA — After a 14-4 win w our DH-1 squad earlier the season, we went to ANHS w a slightly “lighter”squad - on paper anyway. 3 of our top 10 players stayed behind to help out their DH-2 sisters in their rematch vs Capo Valley, while 2 others were out ill. Without that firepower, it was going to be a tight match vs the Wolverines, and it was. Despite dropping 3 of 3 tie-breaker sets, our girls ended up winning 9-7 in a slightly abbreviated match. Using 4 courts only in round #3, we finished winning 3 of 4 all doubles sets get the win. (Had we tied 8-8, we would have won on game count.) 100% club winners today get MVP honors: Alexandra Marsh (3 for 3) and Maddy Valente (2 for 2). Great job. Peyton Salas and Elliana Castro were a tie-breaker away from winning all 3; they fought back from 2-5 to force the tie-breaker though, great effort. Ella Joutz was a tie-break away from being 2 for 2, as she and Viana Poggi battled back and forth with the Wolverine’s top doubles team. Riley Godber and Arina Wagner both got solid singles wins, and played well against their top 2 singles players in a round 3 doubles match. Abby Godber and Bryanna Noorian got a much needed doubles win in the last round to put us over the top. Next match: tomorrow, Oct. 29th at home vs Mater Dei, 1pm. Last FS match of the season - Go Lions!
