Ojai, CA — Austin Wheatley’s touchdown pass to Oney Singh tied the score 10-10 in the fourth quarter as the Rangers fought to avoid their first winless season since 1960. But Carpinteria answered with the game-winning drive to finish the Rangers’ 0-10 season. Wheatley completed 9 of 14 passes for 173 yards. Singh caught three passes for 71 yards. Sol McGarey ran for 51 yards on 12 carries and had a team-high 14 tackles. Shane Loes also had 10 tackles. First-year Nordhoff coach Dillon Lowen was impressed with the way his young team finished the season. “The core that we have now has decided to take on what is required,” Lowen said. “That young group, they’re going to set the tone for what this program is going to be. I think we’re going to have a good group returning next year.”
