Moorpark, CA — The Moorpark College football team is building some momentum. Daniel Burke kicked a 46-yard field goal with 2:46 to play as the Raiders set school records for points in a game and margin of victory in Saturday night’s 74-0 win over visiting Los Angeles Pierce at Griffin Stadium. “Offense, defense and special teams are now playing as one,” Moorpark head coach Mike Stuart said. Moorpark’s 73-0 win over West Los Angeles College in 1988 had stood as the school record for 34 years. The blowout win was the second straight for MC, which won at Santa Monica 49-13 on Oct. 13. “That alone shows me that we’re changing a little bit what we’re doing,” Stuart said. "More than anything, the kids have noticed the change in the culture.” Quarterback Bennett Johnson completed 10 of 13 passes for 137 yards and three touchdowns. Three different quarterbacks threw TD passes for the Raiders (4-3), which improved to 2-0 in SCFA Pacific Conference play. Quentin Pooler (Pacifica High) ran for a 31-yard TD and caught a 8-yard TD pass from Luke Rassmussen. Alexander Capka-Jones (Oak Park High) caught TD passes of 49 and 11 yards. Blake Batarse (Royal High) caught a 41-yard TD pass. Ty Ely (Oaks Christian) also caught a TD pass. Gabe Landless (Royal High) and Rassmussen joined Pooler with TD runs. CJ Jackson had a 96-yard interception return in the touchdown in Moorpark’s 30-point second quarter. Khalil Collins had two interceptions and Daniel Pierce (Pacifica High) also had an interception to lead the Moorpark defense, which held Pierce to eight first downs and 98 yards of total offense. Moorpark hosts Los Angeles Valley College this Saturday.
