Calabasas, CA — Now its official: A Thursday night showdown will decide the Marmonte League football championship. St. Bonaventure High won a shootout over Calabasas on Friday night, 49-31, and Oaks Christian School rolled past Simi Valley, 42-14, to set up a league title matchup. St. Bonaventure (6-3 overall, 4-0 in league) will play host to Oaks Christian (7-2, 4-0) at Ventura College on Thursday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The victor wins the Marmonte League crown and a likely berth in the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs. The runner-up is already assured of postseason spot. St. Bonaventure is the defending league champion. Seraphs coach Joe Goyeneche said his team prevailed in a dogfight against Calabasas. "Calabasas battled us all night and never let us completely pull away," Goyeneche said. "I was very impressed with their fight and physicality. I know their league record (5-4 overall, 1-3) isn't where they would like, but coach (Cary) Harris is doing a great job and they will be a hard out in the playoffs if they get an at-large bid." Delon Thompson had another big night for St. Bonaventure, rushing for 257 yards and four touchdowns on 18 carries and surpassing 2,000 yards on the season. His scoring runs were 58, 54, 24 and 2 yards. Anthony Wolter threw for 156 yards and one touchdown. Joaquin "Juice" Johnson had four receptions for 70 yards and also returned a punt 55 yards for a touchdown. Manny Rosales rushed for a touchdown and Leilani Armenta was 7 of 7 on extra-point attempts. Jared Barlow forced a fumble, Zayne McCulley had a fumble recovery and Daniel Hernandez came up with an interception.
