Medford, OR — The St. Mary’s Crusaders have historically had one of the top programs in Oregon 3A/2A/1A girls soccer. The rebuilding Challengers showed toughness running hard with the Crusaders in a 2-0 defeat. Captain and senior, Autumn Murray, showed great presence in the midfield in defense and in attacking as she had one of the best attempts on goal after dribbling through 3 defenders and shooting at the keeper in the 78th minute. Amelia Vandlandingham and Mae Ferreira, are two freshman who showed incredible toughness in defense all game. Our prayers go out to senior, Anna Horn, who suffered a knee injury, removing her from the game. Last season, the Challengers lost 5-0 and 7-0 against St. Mary’s. This score reveals great improvement by CCHS in their defensive play, mental toughness, and control. Monday- the Challengers take a long road trip to face off against Lakeview/Paisley. The Honkers are 4-1 on the season and the girls face another tough challenge.
