Livonia, MI — LIVONIA, Mich. – The Crusaders' Men's Basketball team was back in action for day two of the Bernie Hollowicki Classic and came away with the 95-75 victory over Ave Maria University (Fla.). HOW IT HAPPENED The Crusaders came out the gate hot to start the game once again, going on a 11-2 run. The Gyrenes didn't go away quietly as they would go on a 9-2 run to cut the Crusaders lead to 13-11. Madonna responded by opening a nine point lead and holding that for the majority of the half. Henry Speight led the Crusaders with 11 points, three rebounds and a couple of steals to lead 47-37 at the break. In the second half, senior Mark Mettie was on a mission scoring 16 points on 5-9 shooting. Ave Maria did their best to keep up with the Crusaders, but Madonna's attack was too much as the Crusaders won 95-75 and moved to 2-0 on the year. INSIDE THE NUMBERS Mettie lead the Crusaders with 22 points, six rebounds, and two blocks Speight had a bounce back game with 17 points, four rebounds, and three steals Brendan Young captured a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds Ethan Emerzian finished with 13 points, six assists, and three rebounds
