Grand Rapids, MI — GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Crusaders' Men's Basketball team hit the road to take on Cornerstone University Golden Eagles and the Crusaders battled tough but would drop their second straight contest 94-92 from Mol Arena. HOW IT HAPPENED Madonna would come out the gate hot as they made their first four field goals to jump out to a 10-2 lead. The Golden Eagles didn't go quietly as they showed everyone in Mol Arena why they are receiving votes in the newest NAIA Top 25 Poll. The Crusaders would get into some foul trouble and Cornerstone would capitalize as they finally took the lead from the Crusaders with 4:36 to go in the first half by a score of 34-33. In those final minutes, the Crusaders were outscored 12-4 to trail 46-37 at the break. Coming out of the half the Crusaders hung tough, as Henry Speight scored five straight to cut the Golden Eagles' lead down to just six. Both teams would go point-for-point for the majority of the half until Speight made back-to-back threes giving the Crusaders an 86-85 lead with three minutes to go. However, Cornerstone would ice the game with a huge defensive stop and knock down their free throws and Madonna would fall 94-92. INSIDE THE NUMBERS Five different Crusaders finished in double-figures in scoring Speight led the Crusaders with 30 points and went 7-10 from three Brendan Young finished with 18 points and six rebounds Deric Murray, Ethan Emerzian, and Devin Dunn all finished with 10 points
